Kid Nation, Lord Of The Flies, Whatever; We Bet The Fat Kid Will Be The First To Go

You’ve probably heard all the anti-hype around the latest CBS reality show “Kid Nation”. Each week’s episode follows 40 little twerps ages 8 through 15 who are left on their own without mommy and daddy. They must form clan-like living situations and survive before they are eaten alive by each other’s tantrums and annoyance. Everybody is asking themselves what where the kids parents and CBS thinking when they approved the cannibalistic plot: haven’t we learned anything from “The Lord of the Flies“? Then again, kids throughout Latin America fend for themselves everyday and they do just fine. We think season two should be “Kid Nation: Rio de Janeiro”, where the children are dropped in the favelas and left to survive as seen in the Brazilian flick “Cidade De Deus”. Now that would be entertainment. Happy Friday!!!
Not much fun in ‘Kid Nation’ [Boston Globe]

WTF??? how come there are no Latino kids? i’ll tell you why…by the time i was 8, i already knew how to raise chickens and cook eggs, i knew how to milk a cow, and i could make cheese… all from growing up on el rancho.
right on. i too grew up in a rancho. i knew how to make huevo con chorizo by the time i was nine.
