Southern Peru villagers were struck by a mysterious ailment after a meteorite crashed in their area. The meteorite, which left a 100-foot-wide crater, crashed in the Desaguadero region, near the border of Bolivia. According to the AP:

Residents complained of headaches and vomiting brought on by a “strange odor,” local health department official Jorge Lopez told Peruvian radio RPP [...] “Boiling water started coming out of the crater and particles of rock and cinders were found nearby. Residents are very concerned,” he said.

Sounds like the gods don’t like the idea of an Incan Disneyland either.
