The beginning of the end has come for Juan and Pedro in the fields of California, where crack scientists and engineers are developing various robots equipped with human-like digits, digital maps and other such sci-fi zaniness that’ll some day harvest delicate produce instead of illegals. (Bonus? We can blame the eventual machine revolution on immigrants.) Concerns remain over whether the clampdown on immigration these days would be severe enough to scare off buttloads of laborers and necessitate the robots. But president of the Cali citrus board and fruit grower Ted Batkin doesn’t seem worried:
…some growers are excited by the prospect of having robots and a few trained technicians who know how to operate them replace the droves ofMexicansmanual laborers they currently depend on. “It will open up a lot of opportunity for better paying jobs in the agriculture industry and perhaps get us out of the mentality that being a farm worker is a dirtyMexicanjob,” said Batkin.
Just wait until those robots start having mad babies and living on our welfare. Then they won’t seem so cool.

I swear I saw one of those on my last trip to China. It’s only a matter of time before they got to the US.

This is great! Too bad Bush will prob want all the robots destroyed so we can allow 5 billion more illegals into the country to ruin it further.
