Thought Your Family Tree Was Complicated As Is? Try Figuring It Out Online!

Hisp_Family_Tree_9_12_07.png Hispanic Heritage Month is right around the corner (join us in a yawn, won’t you?), so prepare yourself for some pandering to. Like the schlock that our pals at the Hispanic Business Wire are circulating, a supposedly “impressive listing of links compiled by Family Tree Magazine” for “those researching their Hispanic roots on the Web.” In a rare moment of ancestral Hispanic fervor, we decided to check out said links. At worst, they sent us to sites that peddle genealogy books or spit out error messages saying stuff like “connection timed out,” “content blocked,” and “try again, jackass!” At best, they sent us to forums that redirected us to other forums where people with too much time on their hands dedicate message boards to their dear old abuelos. Then we snapped out of it and realized that researching your family tree is super boring, something we’ll only do when we’re dead or dying. Damn you, false Latin pride!
