Now that Univision has more viewers aged 25-54 than CBS, NBC, ABC or FOX, a lot of network folks are scrambling to make sense of their overwhelming success. And hispanic broadcasting suits are spewing their viewpoints to any schmo who’ll hold up a microphone. Like the lady in this article:
“The difference with Spanish-language broadcast is it’s really community-oriented news and it’s news you can use,” says Veronica Villafañe, former head of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists. “They actually encourage assimilation: This is where you go to get services; these are your rights. It’s really an education channel.”
As opposed to the English language broadcast that encourages you to figure it out on your own and have anarchy and fighting in the streets? How about there are a lot of people in this country who only speak Spanish? We don’t suppose that could be the answer.
