We’re not sure if this has anything to do with Latino pop culture, but some Latinos might be getting popped at this very juncture but some students might be in danger right now. According to the Chico Enterprise Record, a gunman is holding three people hostage at Las Plumas High School in Oroville, California near Sacramento.

The incident started at about 9:15 a.m. [Pacific] with a report of a student with a gun in the school’s bandroom.

Law enforcement said shots were fired by the subject in the bandroom, but early reports say there were no injuries.

A Butte County sheriff’s officer advised his dispatcher just after 10 a.m. that he had 26 students gathered behind the campus agriculture building. He said the students were among those who had been hostages.

Reportedly three people, including a possible faculty member, are still being held hostage.

Members of the Butte County sheriff’s SWAT team were taking up positions around the LPHS campus.
