Venezuela Is Okay With Your Tacky Baby Names Again
14 September 2007, 9:55 AM. By Cindy Casares

This just in: people in Venezuela who want to name their baby ForReal are in the clear. The Venezuelan government has backed off of their proposed ban on:
names that expose (children) to ridicule, are “extravagant or difficult to pronounce” or raise doubts about whether a child is a girl or a boy.
The measure would also have provided new parents with a list of 100 names to use “as a reference”, but child protection officials warned it could violate “the right to liberty.” The whole Hugo Chavez president forever thing, unfortunately, is still A-Ok with everybody.
