Every Month Is Latino Heritage Month: South Texas Mayors Block Wall

It’s not often we get to feel proud of politicians. In fact some Latino Mayors can be downright embarrassing. But last week, some Texas mayors put the “can” back in Mexican when they organized to block the United States Department of Homeland Security from accessing their respective cities’ land for construction of the proposed border wall. And don’t let our joke fool you, some of those mayors ain’t even Mexican. Nor is Texas governor Rick Perry who also opposes the wall. Says the Houston Chronicle:

Mayors in Brownsville, Del Rio and El Paso have denied or limited access to some parts of their city property to Department of Homeland Security workers assigned to begin surveys or other preliminary work on the fence Congress has authorized to keep out illegal immigrants.
Eagle Pass has denied a request from federal officials to build a portion of the wall within its city limits.

What’s more, Brownsville, Texas mayor Pat Ahumada is considering a lawsuit on behalf of his city stating that,”If we have to we’ll take it all the way up to the Supreme Court.”

Kind of calls that whole liberal California, racist Texas stereotype into question.

now that we got that racist cali thing settled, if we could only do something about that elitist, new york, aren’t we the smug center of the universe question settled. darn those pesky stereotypes!

That’s not just a stereotype!

@jm: You know it’s true that NYC is the center of the universe. You’re just jealous! wink

of course they’re going to oppose homeland security. have you seen the color samples for the wall? NOT pretty at all. they want to go with something tasteful and complimentary, like a nice abstract tile or an IM Pei wall.

plus, they’d like to be able monitor their own wall to figure out where their drug connections come through. those re-election campaigns don’t fund themselves, people.

drugs are shipped to the rest of the U.S….it is smuggled through the border it doesn’t stay here on the border…at least not all of it.

it goes straight to middle americans…
