    not one of sondheim’s major works, is it? i’m not sure why the rousing 11 o’clock number, “Small Pox and Gold,” didn’t make the cut in this clip. it’s a real toe tapper.

    I love that he’s blonde. I love that the reddish-brown people never learned to build houses (Machu Picchu is rather unimpressive…). I love how Hispaniola is “an island nearby America.” And I love how the island he’s shown landing on isn’t even Hispaniola, but Puerto Rico.
