Fidel Castro Deathwatch: El Commandante And Huey Chavez Converge In Dictator Lovefest
15 October 2007, 9:00 AM. By Cindy Casares
This weekend, Fidel Castro made his first live broadcast in months on none other than Venezuelan president Hugo Chavez’s television show, “Alo, Presidente!” Sure, it was only a phone call, but it was followed by a videotape of a romantic weekend the two spent together this past weekend in Cuba where Huey sang revolutionary hymns to El Comanandante:
“I am very touched when you sing about Che,” Castro told Chavez during his hour-long call to Chavez’s “Alo, Presidente!” program — referring to revolutionary icon Ernesto “Che” Guevara, to whom the program was dedicated.
“There is electricity in the air,” Chavez said, obviously pleased with Castro’s call.
But serenades weren’t the only tokens of affection Huey had for our Fearless Leader.
He also gave Castro a painting he says he created while in jail after a failed coup attempt in the early 1990’s.
Castro told him he needed to sign his work. “No one knows the merit that this has, that you did this!”
Presumably, Castro then had someone put the painting on the refrigerator, but most touching of all was Chavez’s declaration of undying love for Fidel:
“Our father, who is in the water, earth and air,” Chavez said in an almost religious tone that evoked the Lord’s Prayer.
“You will never die,” Chavez told Castro. “You remain forever on this continent and with these nations, and this revolution … is more alive today than ever, and Fidel, you know it, we will take charge of continuing to fan the flame.”
We knew it. He’s got some brujo shit keeping him alive and we’re never going to get rid of this feature.

What, you’re surprised that Fidel is secretly a Santeria loving brujo?
Ever think that the “new Santerian comic you scooped a few days ago”:http://guanabee.com/2007/10/marvel-comics-creates-latino-s.php is a secret ploy hatched by Cuban intelligence officials to defile young American minds (gasp!)? Just a thought.
