Guanabee Glossary: Perreo
Some time ago, we were severely chastised over our lack of familiarity with a certain Latino slang word. A quick poll around the office revealed that almost none of us had ever heard of it. Which made us wonder if there aren’t many words that we can all share with one another. After all, Latino culture is a diverse thing. And so, it is to that end that we present the Guanabee Glossary.

Scuse me mister Editor but this boricua knew what that shit meant. Also, I know the guy who slipped Cindy that mickey. Lastly, “perreando” is the appropriate conjugation of the verb. Where’s Marco when you need him?

How can you not know what “perreo” means… outrage! This term is widely used in Peru and we even have something called “perreo chacalonero.”

@ev: It’s shocking, but true. We’ve asked and asked lots of brown folk. We think it’s a regional thing. And most of us, with the exception of Bosrican, are not PR or Peruvian. Trust me, I could shame your ass with some Tejano slang that would throw you for a loop.

And I’ve never heard of this word either. But I also avoid reggaeton like the clap.

Dude, I’m Mexican & I knew what that meant, my husband is Puerto Rican & learned it from me- lol.
I guess I listened to much Reggaeton before it even was popular. (Panamanian friends)
I’ve been exposed to a lot of different latino cultures while he was in the Navy- I was in college- & when he’d get leave I took him with my distant Costa Rican cousin “a perrear”-
plus since it’s not a proper word, the conjugation doen’t really have to be “proper”- lol.
Yeah, I know a lot of Chicano & Spanish-Mexican slang that my turns my man on, too-lol.

Ok- never mind I just read the crossed out perreo conjugation & I guess there is proper conjugation even for word that isn’t technically proper.
I just saw the peruvian version of perreo- very sweaty-lol-
Anyone remember quebradita? That dance took much more skill & could literally break your back- if done right.:-o
