Guanabee To Go: Girl In A Coma In NYC

Girl In A Coma are on their way to NYC this week to play shows on Friday and Sunday. The obvs. Morrissey inspired band (they don’t really sound like Morrissey, although lead singer Nina Diaz does sorta croon like him) were signed by Joan Jett last time they were here and that woman intimidates even Cindy. Seriously, though, their music sounds like an incredible nose hit from an angry waitress (check out the video for “Clumsy Sky” above—this one’s going out to Marco), they’re from San Antonio, (the Paris of Tex-Mex), and they’re all girrrrls, so check that shiz out if you’re in the area. And with the Moz himself in town, who knows? Perhaps we’ll have a meta reunion. Show details after the jump.

Friday, October 26th - Crash Mansion - Early Show - The Girls go on at 7pm
Sunday, October 28th - The Knitting Factory Tap Room
Show starts at 8pm, Girls on at 9pm
Both Shows, New York City, NY

I love the bar where they shot the video. I want to get drunk there and forget my life is happening.

the bar is badass, it’s lermas in san antonio. old school conjunto. and it’s also the place where they shot that scene in selena where her dad’s 60s rock band gets booed off the stage by angry tejanos. the kitschy painting the girls play in front of - aztec warrior holding aztec princess - was created courtesy of the hollywood movie art department. the bar never took it down. lone star beer two bucks a longneck.

This song was some Regina Spektor wannabe-shit. But then it got awesome.
