A tipster notified us that Alejandro Sanz’s concert in Caracas, Venezuela has been canceled by prez Huey Chavez for unspecified reasons. Dictators usually don’t need any reasons and we’re sure Huey felt that protecting his constituents from lisp-induced earaches was reason enough, but there are also those pesky remarks Sanz made just before El Presidente canceled the November 1 show for which over 8,000 tickets had already been sold. Sometime yesterday, it was disclosed in El País that Sanz had this to say about a 2004 petition circulated in Venezuela to send a referendum to revoke Huey’s presidency:

I don’t like him. If they would show me three million signatures to get me to stop singing, I would stop immediately.

We’ve got five here, A.S.! Of course, we’re also not ruling out the very real possibility that Huey couldn’t bare the thought of his full-length commie ballads taking a backseat to a Spanish pop-star. These entertainers and their feuds.

Callan a Alejandro Sanz [El Nuevo]
