Although this may read as a spoof, the sordid truth is that Venezuela’s jubilant leader is scheduled to release a full length album of songs that were recently showcased on his prime-time variety hour (or sometimes variety 8-hour) “Alo Presidente”. This latest development leads us to believe that Huey really wants to be a part of the Tinseltown scene, as supported by his obsession with Hollywood actors; except this time he’s really trying to be the next great Latin-American Idol.
“The CD was recorded by Teresita Maniglia, presidential press chief,” revealed Chavez, laughing, on his Sunday radio and TV program Aló Presidente. “Timeless songs…You all will hear this and laugh!,” said the leader…
We don’t know whether to gasp in horror or excitement at the thought of covering Huey’s next charade, but we can just imagine the song list on this one: “Mr. Danger is a Donkey (Bush’s Theme)”, “Fidel Won’t Die Because He’s Fidel”, and our personal favorite “Kevin Spacey and Me Ordered The Blue Plate Special #3”.
