Four vandals broke into an art gallery in Lund, Sweden Friday and destroyed photographs by American artist Andres Serrano. The exhibit entitled, “The History of Sex,” features racy photographs of sex acts including a naked woman fondling a horse. What could possibly upset people about that? Serrano is also famous for pics like the nun masturbating you almost see at right. (See the whole thing after the jump, you naughty Catholic!)

Around 3:30, half an hour before closing, four vandals wearing black masks stormed into a space known as the Kulturen Gallery while shouting in Swedish, “We don’t support this,” plus an expletive. [Ed. Note: Ironic.] They pushed visitors aside, entered a darkened room where some of the photographs were displayed and began smashing the glass protecting the photographs and then hacking away at the prints.

By the time the masked men had finished, half the show — seven 50-by-60-inch photographs, worth some $200,000 over all — had been destroyed. The men left behind leaflets reading, “Against decadence and for a healthier culture.” The fliers listed no name or organization.

In a phone interview with the New York Times, Serrano said he was “shocked and horrified” that this could happen in the quaint little town he had compared at the opening with “Harry Potter.” Well there was that crazy Voldemort dude. Below, behold “Piss Christ” and that horny monja.
