WOW Documents Ricky Martin’s Super Straight Screaming Fans

Ricky Martin got his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame yesterday and all the screaming girls turned out: Mary, Nellie and Rod Stewart (apparently). Says World Of Wonder staffer Steven Corfe:
When Johnny Grant, honorary Mayor of Hollywood, greeted the crowd at today’s Walk of Fame star ceremony honoring vehemently heterosexual singer Ricky Martin, he remarked, “I didn’t come to see Ricky. I came to see all the pretty women who came to see Ricky!” I took Johnny’s words to heart, and set myself the assignment of roaming the screaming crowd of fans to gather photos and sound bites from all the aforementioned pretty women. However, I was surprised to find that most of the unflinchingly heterosexual singer’s fans were, in fact, rather pretty men.

Hollywood is a shithole. Unless my star was
behind plate glass to protect from acidic hobo piss, I would not pay for one accept one.
@Diego: Hollywood became an atascadero when it was developed the hell out of; before it was just dingy, grimy, needed love and had a mad crazy Chicano cruising scene (I mean people driving slowly up and down the street here, not crusing for sex…you can find that in West Hollywood).
Instead, it got money and more tourists looking at silly crap. And a subway line that kind of gets you places and takes up more space than a subway station should.
But could somebody please help us comment on the event here? Where’s Borsican when you need him?
as a resident of h’wood, i kinda sort of agree with the criticism. i’m sure it’s kinda what new yorkers feel about time square’s disneyification. HighHo is a touch tacky and overly douchey from all those corn fed tourists, but it’s not too bad. and as for that chicano cruising, it wouldn’t work anymore, the traffic is murder on the weekend. you can be in traffic from western all the way to la brea on a saturday.
what i’m really appalled about is WoW’s headline_Ricky Consigue Su Estrella _? stop the bad spanish!!

Pocho, I miss you too! WeHo, Midtown Manhattan and Hollywood all have their charm, in a $2 hooker kinda way. What horrifies me about the WoW post is the author’s assessment that the guys in the photos are “rather pretty men”. Bitch, please. I’ve seen prettier things under a rock.
