You All Look Like Miguel To La Migra

Another day, another story of random immigration raids on the homes of legal immigrants. From the New York Times:
Peggy Delarosa-Delgado, a United States citizen, Long Island homeowner and mother of three, was fast asleep when someone banged at the door before 6 a.m. last Thursday.
It was not the first time. In the summer of 2006, she said, agents waving the same photo of a deportable immigrant named Miguel had stormed into her house before dawn. No Miguel has ever lived there, she said — at least not since she bought the place in 2003.
That dude must be harder to find than Osama Bin Laden. And Ms. Delarosa-Delgado isn’t the only one taking the heat.
Eberhard Müller of East End, Long Island spent a week trying to recover a legal employee of his along with two of that man’s family members. All three were “confiscated” by the authorities. The reason?
“They accuse them of being gang associates, which makes no sense,” Mr. Müller said, describing all three as holding down two or three jobs as roofers, restaurant workers and farmhands. “Marvin Lopez is a librarian in his country, the sweetest person in the world. He works 14 hours a day, seven days a week. How is he able to be a gang member?”
We bet Miguel got him into it.

It’s like the ICE (the new and improved Migra) have incorporated “Cheech Marin’s masterpiece “:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DendKIx01zc
as part of their training curriculum:
Of course, then here’s the “abbreviated version, where all us vatos come home to pick up Elvira in our ranfla.”:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1euDPrlBjbQ
A similar occurrence happened at my mothers home earlier this year. According to my brother who was home when it happened these guys were packing heat and violated the hell out of our home; breaking things, swearing orders at my elderly aunt…etc
When they realized their seize was a dud we didn’t get so much as a sorry for the mistake.
… I said that we should’ve showed them how American we were by suing ICE. Good plan no?
What a shitty thing to happen, Vic.
Maybe an option could be to see if “MALDEF”:http://www.maldef.org/index.cfm or the “ACLU”:http://www.aclu.org could lend you a hand. That is, if you’re willing to take the risk of being branded an ungrateful anti-patriot some commenters on the flag post would have people believe.
I’ll look into that; I think this incident burned me a lot more than the rest of my family who kinda just dropped it.
and about being labeled ungrateful and anti-patriotic … nothing I haven’t been called before so what’s the big deal?
; )
Yeah, MALDEF’s national headquarters is in L.A., and who knows, it may be a way to bring a flawed aspect of current immigration policy and enforcement to light. Suerte!
Damn pocho_guey… you are making some use of those links behind words.
Teach me too, guanbee, porfa!
