Argentina’s new President-elect, Hillary Clintonesque Cristina Kirchner, has remained mostly silent on the issue of same-sex marriage. (And, really, isn’t sex in most marriages always the same? Haha! Sigh.) When Senator Vilma Ibarra, one of Kirchner’s most avid campaign supporters, proposed a bill to change Argentina’s Civil Code so that gay couples could be legally married, many saw this as indicative of La Presidenta’s own stance even though she never explicitly supported the proposal. In fact, she first spoke publicly on the subject in an October 24th radio interview:
Kirchner didn’t necessarily support same-sex marriage but she did espouse generic platitudes that sounded like she did: “I believe in the free will of all men and women in Argentina to choose their sexuality.”
Furthermore she said “It’s not an issue on which I have to express myself, in all respects it’s an issue that has to be debated in the Parliament.”
So sexual orientation is a choice she chooses not to think about? How mysteriously ambiguous! But on to more important issues. Who does her hair and do she and Hillary wear the same shoe size?
