Big, Fat, Pregnant Names Left Out Of This Year's Latin Grammy Noms

Jennifer Lopez and her allegedly twin-infested womb have been left out of the nominations for this year’s Latin Grammys. Probably because her music sucks harder than Noelia in front of a camera. (Hey-o!) Her Spanish-language album, Como Ama una Mujer, failed to resonate with voters. But our favorite blockhead Jenny-Lo isn’t the only A-list name left off the list.

“I’m always surprised when I see the nominees at the end,” said Gabriel Abaroa, president of the Latin Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences. “Not only Jennifer, there are always very strong names and very strong competitors that didn’t make it to the nominees.”

Like who, pray tell?

Turns out Mexican singer Paulina Rubio’s fondness for straddling borders didn’t help her earn a nod, either.

“Paulina’s is a major snub,” said Leila Cobo, who covers the Latin music industry for Billboard magazine. “To have Cachorro nominated… and her song with Miguel Bose in the list, but not being in the Female Pop. I think it was a low blow.”

Low blow indeed. Chayanne, Luis Miguel and Jose Feliciano are among other big names whose albums were met with apathy this year. Pretty fitting, since we fell asleep halfway through typing their names.

And the nominees for the Latin Grammys 2007 are NOT… [NY Daily News]
