Chilean Senator Guido Girardi has compared the Japanese government’s insistence of whale hunting for scientific purposes to Nazi scientists’ experiments on humans during World War II:
“The Japanese should not be the Nazis of the present time; only the Nazis assassinated thousands of people for research,” said Senato [sic] Guido Girardi of the ruling centre-left Concertacion alliance.
“It is not true that scientific research requires killing; that would be like saying that to do scientific research on humans one has to kill them first,” said Mr Girardi.
And testing HIV medication on a lab rat is akin to slaughtering thousands of Tutsis. But, yeah. Save the whales, you guys. For dessert.
