Hey, everybody. Did you know that people of color blog? It’s in the Boston Globe today! Blacks and Latinos and South Asians create websites to discuss politics and pop culture through their unique lens. A lens that is like a magical colored contact. There’s Ultrabrown, Sepia Mutiny or Field Negro. Mostly, they’re fueled by anger. On the street that’s scary, but in cyberspace, it’s like your own personal “Black Like Me.” There’s the Angry Asian Man, The Angry Black Woman and The Unapologetic Mexican. Oh and then there’s Guanabee. We’re not sure what the hell our name means, actually, but now all of Boston knows we’re here, Bosrican’s queer and they’ll just have to get used to it. As blogger Baratnde Thurston of Jack and Jill Politics says:

Ever since the assassination of [Martin Luther] King and Malcolm [X], there’s been a hunt for the black guy who will speak for the other black guys and gals out there. I think blogs can help disrupt the tendency to select a single individual as default leaders and default spokespeople.

Unlike in print journalism where one article speaks for us all.

Frankly, I’m still reeling from the news that Latinos use cell phones.

Where can I get one of these “cell phones”?

I lose reception on my cordless when I go into the backyard to feed los gallos.

Yes, we’ve found a way to blog, but according to that picture, we’re still using AOL dial-up and Windows 95 to spread our messages.

does the Boston Globe count as the big time? cuz i bounced from this ship when i saw the rats bailing, and now i regret not sticking around for the party to start. (mixing clichéd metaphors is awesome.)

I have a problem with Latinos using cell phones in general. It’s bad enough we talk fast. Now we’re talking fast with Broadband and Wi-Fi capabilities? Ay dios mio!
