A British woman trying to move to New Zealand was denied residency because she’s too fat:

Rowan Trezise, 33, has been left behind in England while her husband Richie, 35, has already made the move down under leaving her desperately trying to lose weight.

When the couple first tried to gain entry to the country they were told that they were both overweight and were a potential burden on the health care system.

This is the first time he’s managed to make it successfully down under in a long time. Hey-o!

Robyn Toomath, a spokesman for New Zealand’s Fight the Obesity Epidemic and an endocrinologist said that obese people should not be victimised, but agreed with the restrictions.

“The immigration department can’t afford to import people who are going to be a significant drain on our health resources.”

This is an excellent way of determining who gets to stay and who has to leave the U.S., as well. If you’ve ever gone on the subway, flown in a plane or attempted to walk through Disney World while hordes of gargantuan people barrel down on you in their little automatic wheelchairs so they don’t have to worry about walking and eating a deep fried marshmallow dipped in mayonnaise at the same time, then you know that the real threat in this country isn’t whether “Miguel” takes your job, but whether or not you can actually get through the commute to that job or take a vacation from that job without finding yourself trapped in some stranger’s back fat in the process.
