Latin Grammy Round Up: Beyoncé Lost

Last night Las Vegas was invaded by Latinos for the “8th Annual Latin Grammy Awards.” It was really a spectacle because normally the town is very White and American. You know, because it’s Nevada. Amongst the winners was Juan Luis Guerra who took home 6 trophies for like best hair, best little hat straw hat, best Cat Stevens beard and best song with a thinly veiled euphemism for a woman’s privates. Then there was Ricky Martin dancing with Blue Man Group. (We know. It needs no joke!) And some judges who got tricked into thinking they’d add relevance to the show by awarding Calle 13 with a trophy. All and all a pretty ho-hum night. That is until Beyoncé Knowles was passed over as a Latin Grammy recipient for her work with Shakira on the song “Bello Embustero (Beautiful Liar).” We mean, what is this world coming to when People en Español’s most beautiful Latina is passed over for a Latin Grammy? She shakes her ass better than any brown girl and this, after all, is the measure of a beautiful Latina. We’re going on a hunger strike. Right after this bagel.
