People who want you to buy their food would like you to know that you’re not fat because you eat too much and don’t get enough exercise. You’re fat because that’s how your mom and the Baby Jesus made you. Buy our overpriced Health Chow now!:

Minyard Food Stores will be distributing the Latino Nutrition Coalition’s “Camino Mágico,” a free bilingual guide promoting healthy food and lifestyle choices for Hispanic consumers. It has long been suggested that Hispanics have a different genetic make-up that makes them more sensitive to certain diets and prone to health conditions such as obesity and diabetes.

See? It’s science. But does this unique genetic make-up also make us more likely to dance well, have large asses or appear in oversized t-shirts featuring the Tasmanian Devil as a cholo? Because that also happens to be the image we have tattooed onto our very own “camino mágico.”

So, what kind of Hispanics are they talking about? Brown (indigenous)? Mestizo? Mulatto? White? Black? These various group are not genetically the same, though there are similarities. Or maybe they’re suggesting that being Hispanic magically alters one’s genes . . . so that all Hispanics end up being the same: loud and throw in a handful of fun stereotypes. Interesting.

@El voz: Um, I didn’t summarize the post. Read it. The writer of this post did not explicitly nor implicitly address the issues I brought up. Maybe your psychic and know the intention of the writer. I guess that’s a possibility.

So, I’m didn’t summarize and it’s not an obvious issue from this particular post! I don’t deny that it may be an obvious issue to you and others. But that’s not what you said. Thanks for your compelling . . . um, argument. Happy Thanksgiving! :)

Forget genetics, it all stems from your abuelita cooking everything with manteca. Mmm….
