New Mexico’s New Tourism Campaign Courts The Illegal Aliens

While most states are very anti-illegal alien, New Mexico’s new tourism campaign is all about them. Space aliens, that is. Heh. But could this be a thinly veiled attempt to attract other kinds of aliens? Some locals think it’s sending a bad message, either way. Says the Denver Post:

Among the critics’ main targets is the appearance of the less-than-cuddly, reptilian spacemen, who they claim are more apt to baffle or frighten away a tourist than reel one in.

The critics are probably right. We deal with humorless people like this on a daily basis. They’re called Americans.

Apart from making a slightly anti-immigrant jab, I think they’re trying to make a reference to the only thing thats tourist worthy in New Mexico: Roswell. I mean really, what else do they got? The desert?

I’ve been to New Mexico and the land will speak for itself. It doesn’t matter what kind of reptilian office workers are pushing the state, it’s the nicest one in the union.
