Latinoids are all over prime time TV nowadays: conducting crime scene investigations, working at magazines, dating white people. Sometimes they even speak Spanish and, on occasion, much to the delight of the LA Times, they can even manage to speak it properly. Like in a recent flashback episode of “My Name is Earl,” Latina character Catalina dropped some Espanish over the airwaves.
For example, in a flashback on a recent episode, Catalina encountered Crabman (Eddie Steeples), even though viewers would know that the characters had not yet met. Catalina commented in untranslated Spanish on the story’s anachronism: “Look, I know that this doesn’t make any sense on this show because, as we can see, I came after Y2K, but in reality, who pays attention to those kinds of things?”
Not us. We just watch TV to count how many times people speak Spanish on prime time. Especially penis jokes:
In last week’s episode of “Cane,” for instance, as three men drank and toasted, two of them, Alex (Jimmy Smits) and Grasso (Jason Beghe), offered the customary “Salud.” Carbonell’s Frank opted for the vulgar but not obscene, “Que te crezca,” which literally means “May it grow” and is a wish men bestow upon each other’s sex organs.Sexy and educational!

Jesus, could that picture be any more airbrushed? She looks like she belongs on the hood of a ’60s Chevy Impala, surrounded by roses and some Olde English writing.
