Racism Against Immigrants Might Turn Them Into Palestinian Terrorists
Andres Oppenheimer, Latin American correspondent for the Miami Herald wrote a rah-rah-rah piece on immigrant rights and advocacy, warning on the dangers of angering immigrants with discriminatory rhetoric and hate mongering. Oppenheimer writes:
Remember the Palestinian intifada of the early 1990s, when thousands of frustrated young Palestinians took to the streets and threw stones at Israeli troops? […] If we are not careful, we may see something similar coming from the estimated 13 million undocumented immigrants in the United States…
We can’t remember anything that happened last week, much less in the early 90’s. Palestinians, however, are no match for a pissed-off fruit picker. You know those outbreaks of E. Coli in the packaged spinach and the Taco Bell scallions? That’s a pissed Mexican taking a dump in the produce before shipping it out to your local restaurant. Talk about biological warfare!

Wow. I am not exaggerating when I say that is the most ignorant article I have ever seen in a newspaper. To make a connection between intifada and Latinos is outrageously ignorant. The last Palestinian intifada was sparked by Ariel Sharon visiting the third holiest Muslim site in the Middle East. The Israeli Defense Force was also limiting trade, work and transportation in the West Bank and Gaza. So how exactly does that have anything to do with Latinos in this country?
The intifada in France? Who ever labeled it that?
Look, the author wants to write an article expressing how Latinos are frustrated. Peace brother, I respect that. But don’t make ridiculous comparisons to conflicts and circumstances that are detached from fact. The only correlation between the two is that Palestinians and Latinos (many but not all) may be frustrated. But that doesn’t mean Latinos are going to start bombing buses, blowing up falafel stands and attacking people. This moron completely undermined his message by making this comparison.

Wow Americans think were taking their job but we arn’t we come hear for a better life. Now when the Imigration police come and distroys a family they just answer were doing our job. Don’t they know that Latinos have suffered a lot I guess not! Peace to all Latinos From Wrightstown Wisconsin
