The Browning of America Means Less Mr. Browns in America
19 November 2007, 10:30 AM. By Alex Alvarez
While Smith remains the most common name in this country, two Hispanic surnames, Garcia and Martinez, have made it into the top 10:
Garcia moved to No. 8 in 2000, up from No. 18, and Rodriguez jumped to No. 9, from 22nd place. The number of Latino surnames among the top 25 doubled, to six.
We’ve been telling people for a while now that there definitely seems to be at least 32 people living in that Garcia house next door, always playing their music and parking their cars on curbs. Yeah, we hope we don’t have to Garcia or hear ya for a long time, Hoodlums! [Editor's note: Yuk, yuk. Cringe.]
