The Canestaro-Garcia Family Has Much To Teach Us About Being Brown And Proud
9 November 2007, 5:15 PM. By Guanabee Staff
We had no idea there was such a wealth of culture to be garnered from the prolific Canestaro-Garcia kids of Houston, Texas. Turns out there’s a poet in the family, too. A performing artist poet. We love those. And she looks like that girl from “Party of Five”! Her name is Tonzi, (this family is so indigenous), and she started writing when she was five. No really. She totally did. But, you know, she just didn’t get really serious about it until she was sixteen. Anyway, luckily for us, she has deigned to explain her “process” to the entire world through the very democratic medium of YouTube. A process that seems to have something to do with brown face, fake tattoos and a really questionable English accent. We stand out-Latinoed.

oh no slam poetry. I thought we did not do that. Sheez.
My oh my, remind me to never cross you Guanabee.
Not only will you take me out. But you’ll take out my entire family.
Just like a good old Latin American dictatorship. Or a drug cartel. Brown!
And don’t you forget it.
Sorry, I watched the video. I take it back. If you are taking out people like that (and their families), you are the benevolent of dictators.
I swear to you my eternal allegiance, Guanabee.
okay?
I wonder if she’s as douchey as her brother? I hope not.
@chidolitis: i’m afraid she just may be. did you see the video? it’s just too earnest to be parody.
She’s much too culto for my tonto self.
@pocho:
le sigh…what a waste.
Sweet, brown Guanabee, you could never be out-Latinoed by a girl in silver body paint and a Prince symbol tattoo on her face.
I REALLY hope you start getting more bombs of knowledge dropped on you by self-righteous teens because these were some of the funniest posts in a while. La Familia Canaestro-Garcia: raising the profile of Latinos everywhere, one can of silver spray paint at a time.
So artsy..such imagery.. so deep…
You are full of shit guanabee…My brother was right. You are a coward who uses insults to garner attention but the talentless hack in you shines through. Although you have incited a remark from me it does not matter. I imagine you see yourself as making a mark on the latino community but no… you spew crap that matters to no one outside you and your girlfriends who live their lives in the pop culture world.
I am no artist like my sister (who i am sure has won more award this this pitiful sight) nor a critic like my brother (who spoke more eloquently than you could ever dream) Just someone who loves their family.
-The youngest of the three siblings… Go ahead and find me on the internet. All they got is my research on mental illness and the fact i was a poor latino in college.
