Vaya Con Dios: Comic Marilyn Martinez Dies Of Cancer

The Latina Rosanne Barr died Saturday of recently diagnosed colon cancer. Marilyn Martinez was 55 years old and a 30 year stand-up comedy veteran. We never saw her perform, but we bet she was pretty fun to throw down some cake with. She also had no health benefits or life insurance, so Showtime is donating part of the proceeds from the sale of “The Original Latin Divas of Comedy” DVD to her family to help offset costs. The show contains her last performance on tape and will be released in December. Donations to her funeral fund can be made here where details for her funeral services are listed.

Oh damn…that’s sad. I saw her perform at the Laugh Factory about a year ago and she was awesome. Albeit slightly nauseating set, but still funny.
