Twenty-three bilingual police officers in Houston, Texas are suing for unpaid overtime and other compensation due to the amount of work they have to do because, they say, the department has not hired enough Spanish-speaking officers:

The officers are suing the city of Houston and Police Chief Harold Hurtt in federal court, seeking damages for unpaid overtime, lost wages and other compensation. They also want the city to hire more bilingual officers and add policies that will help the department tackle the volume of work requiring Spanish-speaking officers.

Officer Gabe Ortiz, a police spokesman, referred questions about the lawsuit to the city’s legal department, the Houston Chronicle reported.

The plaintiffs say there is a need for Spanish speaking officers to investigate and handle crimes in which vitims, witnesses or suspects speak only Spanish. Census figures indicate about 40 percent of Houston residents are Hispanic, including foreign and native born.

Boo fucking hoo. We’re going to sue the state of New York for not hiring enough good looking people so that everywhere we go, we always have to be the best looking person in the room which, Jesus Christ, is so tiresome.
