The Charlotte Observer today published an “article” that reports how Latinos are stepping out of their bamboo huts and using computers to, like, email and stuff. The article is exploding with unheard of revelations about Latinos and technology, while at the same time sending us back hundreds of years into the stone age. Like the invention of fire, this article keeps on giving:

The 41 million Latinos living in the United States are among this country’s first “wired immigrants.”

In case you haven’t heard. All Latinos, even those born in the states, are immigrants. Get used to it, beaner.

This group of new citizens and their offspring enjoy widespread access to modern communication tools that [...] enables [them] to maintain strong links to [their] homelands while immersing [themselves] in [their] adopted country’s culture.

Homelands? Like Texas? Can’t wait to tell the folks back in Houston about Sex Messaging!

Today, e-mails can reach Colombia, Ecuador and Mexico in seconds — and for peanuts.

That’s like, faster than smoke signals you guys.

Because of the new technologies, we can live our lives in the United States, making contributions to this society and enjoying the advantages of living in a first-rate country, while keeping up with what’s happening in the countries from which we emigrated.

God forbid you confuse any Latin American country with anything more than third-and-a-half rate. Sigh. Can you pass the bongos? We need to call our mothers.

What… the… fuck? There are so many things wrong with that sentence that my tech unsavvy mind can’t deal with it.

And the first “wired” immigrant is going to be The Terminator, not Monica the med student from Costa Rica.

Um, I thought los hinduses were the first wired immigrants. Since, you know, they learned all about the internets in Bangalore and such.

Um . . . have you seen or talked to the average Latino in this country? The media here in the states isn’t talking about the minority of Latino coconuts who complain about racism and use computers. Most Latinos in this country probably don’t even care about how their described by the mainstream media. These Latinos get all the news and information they need from Jorge Ramos and others at Univision or Telemundo, and other places, I’m sure. These Jorge Ramos-loving Latinos are the ones this article is probably talking about.

If you’re smarter than the average Latino, then it’s your lucky day. White liberals will LOVE you! You can probably get into a decent university, while some White kid of equal intelligence will get the boot. I sometimes feel sorry for these kids, but life’s a bitch. That’s just the way it is. Anyway, these universities will even shower you with money and praise. That’s a really good deal if you ask me.

So, why does Guana Bust A Nut get a pass for comments like the one above, while Rebekah get’s hell? I’ve had enough with this site’s tone.

yeah, what a super good deal! if you have the fortitude and patience to overcome the systematized obstacles to success that make affirmative action necessary, you can look forward to a lifetime of people doubting your achievements, apparently! That’s a super sophisticated way of looking at the situation too, the displacement of worthy whites.

re: your first paragraph, huh? I’m not sure what you’re saying, but depictions of latinos affect everyone even if they’re not paying attention enough to be offended.
