Marcover: Meet Mark

Mark is a single, gay Cuban-American living in New York–a city some say is the toughest place in America to be single. After a few false starts, he’s finally ready to go out and meet the guy of his dreams. But, first, he’d like a little bit of friendly help from Guanabee. We’ll send him to a gym, give him some style tips, get him a new outfit and turn him into Prince Charming by Valentine’s Day. So join Associate Editor Alex Alvarez as she and Guanabee help Mark get a new look, a new perspective and, hopefully, a hot new Argentine boyfriend. Because everyone could use a Marcover now and again. Your life depends on it. No pressure, though.
Mark, whom you may know as commenter “Marco,” is my very best friend and I love him dearly. Which, unfortunately, means I owe him a Christmas present. And, because I am extraordinarily cheap, I decided his present this year would be a Guanabee feature. Surprise motherfucker! It was either this or a gem sweater. And the Salvation Army store is just too far, plus I’m not good at wrapping shit.
As such, we at Guanabee decided we’re going to give Mark a makeover, or a Marcover, if you will, for the purpose of brevity. We’ll also offer him some time-tested dating tips (Swallow.) and follow his Quilmes-soaked, romantic forays as he lives and works for several months in Buenos Aires. Yay Mark!
Before we start any of that, though, we’d like to give you all the chance to meet Mark, a native New Yorker, for yourselves. He’s a 22-year-old gay Gemini who is 6 foot 2 and enjoys Honest Tea, reality dating shows, Celia Cruz, gossip, mojitos, dancing musicals, Craigslist and the 90’s. If a Lifetime TV Movie about his life were to be made, it would be called “Dancing With Tina: The Story of Mark” and he would be played by Valerie Bertinelli.
But enough about Mark. Let’s talk about me, as I talk to Mark:

So that’s a pretty superficial glance at Mark. You’ll get to know him much better over the next few months and, if you’re lucky, you might eventually be invited to one of his themed parties where he’ll inevitably invite you to partake in shots a mere seconds before he passes out dressed in a pair of gold shorts and sunglasses.
What can I say? I love ‘em.
