Producer Emilio Estefan Appears On Show We’ve Never Heard Of, Makes A Documentary, Has More Money Than You
4 December 2007, 10:30 AM. By Alex Alvarez
Music producer, husband to Gloria and all-around super rich person, Emilio Estefan, is set to apear on “Bayly,” a show we’ve never heard of because it’s neither on the Cartoon nor Food Networks. He’ll be talking about a documentary he made, 90 Millas, which will debut December 13 at The Dubai International Film Festival. Jealous, Sundance?:
“90 Millas” represents the distance between Cuba and Florida and the film will examine the experience of Cuban musicians who have taken refuge in the United States as they feel so far away from their homeland, despite it being a short distance.
During the celebration of the documentary’s premier, Estefan’s wife, Gloria Estefan, will perform several songs from the album produced by Emilio, which has the same name as the documentary and recently reached number one on the Latin Billboard Charts.
So close, and yet… so far. How else does Emilio make enough money to line the walls of his Star Island manse with the crystallized tears of the poor?:
During his career, Estefan has received 14 Grammy Awards and was honored as the first “Person of the Year” by the Latin Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences in 2000 for his work as music producer. Estefan has also been instrumental in the development and production of the Latin Grammy Awards. In addition, Emilio is the co-publisher of “Ocean Drive En Español,” one of the leading Hispanic lifestyle magazines.
The drive and passion that Emilio has for his music has also characterized his successful foray into being an investor and developer in the hospitality industry. In the early 1990s, he opened “Larios on the Beach” in Miami. Currently, The Estefans own Bongos Cuban Café in Orlando’s Walt Disney Resort and in the American Airlines Arena in Miami, achieving the same level of success.
Yeah, so what’s your point? (Boring post! Who cares?) We were named “Person of the Year” by our parole officer and opened an all-you-can-eat buffet in our pants. Hey-o!
Apologies.
