We are so freaking excited to begin our first foray into the world of sponsored content with the Papa Guanabee Razr2 Giveaway contest. Join us in the commercialism, won’t you? This contest is sponsored by our good friends at Motorola who have just handed us FIVE brand new Razr2 phones to give away to five lucky readers of our choosing. So how are we going to pick from all you crazy knuckleheads? Well, we enlisted the help of someone far more fair-minded than us: our old friend Papa Guanabee. He’s kind of a cross between Santa Clos and a Sugar Daddy. And this holiday, Papa Guanabee has just one question for you: Have you been a good Latino this year? And, remember, a good Latino doesn’t have to actually be Latino, but rather, just have a Latino state of mind. (Yes, Billy Joel, you can submit a song, too.) Let Papa Guanabee know just how you’ve been a good Latino this year—and be creative about it— and you could be the winner of your very own Motorola Razr2 phone. It’s that ridiculously easy. Oh yeah. There are some rules after the jump for the anal retentive:
Winners will be notified by email on Monday, December 24th and showcased on Guanabee, so get to creatin’, people!

This is so funny after that whole poor, male Latino cell phone thing

I want one. I have been a good Latino this year I promise, I have eaten all my pechugas de pollo that my mother shoves down my throat.

Dear Papa Guanabee,
This should have been a tres reyes contest.

10 reasons of the top of my head as to why i’ve been a good latina:
1) not on welfare
2) not on drugs
3) not here illegally
4) i’m 27 and have not had a baby (me dejo el tren)
5) i’m 27 and have never been married (me dejo el tren, again!)
7) don’t have anyone in my family named Chuey, Jesus, Paco, or Pablo, Conchita, Maria, Guadalupe or Pancracia
8) set a good example to non-latinos of what “good” latinas are like
9) never been arrested
10) pay taxes and am not a burden to society!

@mare: “I’m 27 and I have never had a baby” ahahaha. That would be a catchy song/poem.

@mare - Ay, these sound like reasons why you’re NOT a good latina…. ;-)

@mare-
That was the grossest thing I’ve read in a while.
“1) not on welfare”- how wonderful! What an accomplishment for you, you must be extraordinarily successful; you are a Latina who’s not on welfare… SOOO many Latinos are on welfare, its just sickening! let’s keep perpetuating stereotypes, that’s always a good idea, right?
“3) not here illegally”- What hard work YOU must have put in to ensure your legal status, impressive (BTW, its “undocumented” fool), its highly unlikely you were just BORN here… Are you saying that being undocumented makes a person “bad” then? What about an 18 yr old who was brought here when he was 7 and now can’t get any financial help for college?
“8) set a good example to non-latinos of what “good” latinas are like”- According to who? Because you don’t cause any trouble (meek and submissive is more like it)? Please explain what you mean, what the hell is your definition of a “good latino”?
What bothers me most about this (and YES, I understand that your post was SUPPOSED to be funny), is you wrote down things that people in power, ie. “white people” would value. It was insensitive and ignorant.I guess i had no idea that self-hatred was running so rampant.
And I’m also surprised that nobody else here finds fault with this… you all immediately throw fits when I praise Chavez and Castro but are willing to let this jerk perpetuate all these negative stereotypes about our people and culture, it makes me sad.
Finally, Mare, if you’re so damn successful, why don’t you BUY yourself a phone instead of begging for one… have you no pride woman?
Sorry, wrong question!

Good God Rebekah!!!! Are you like 12? Its called sarcasm. You’ll learn about it when you grow up and start LEARNING HOW to choose your battles! Unlike now where you scream out loud with your eyes closed and ears plugged. When you get to college, dear child, I bet a million bucks you’ll join Mecha and destroy any respect or ounce of sympathy anyone would ever have for anything you stand for.
