How else can you possible participate completely and without barriers in the debates that define our country. A country without a language and unifying culture will, in the end extinguish. Nothing wrong (and everything right) with speaking as many languages as you can, but one must be English. Nothing wrong with celebrating your cultural roots but the self-selected goal of the applicant for citizenship is to become an "American" citizen, and if it ain't what is the point?
