Craig Romney Really Sinks His Teeth Into A Spanish-Language Ad For His Dad

Craig Romney, the third-hottest Romney son and by far the most dentally gifted, narrates a new campaign dad in Spanish for his dad, Mitt. The ad will be shown in Miami:

THE SCRIPT In Spanish, Craig Romney, one of the candidate’s sons, says: “Mitt Romney’s record speaks for itself: successful as a businessman, saved the Olympics and as governor of Massachusetts, lowered taxes and stimulated the economy.

And using only one finger, too.

But above all, Mitt Romney is a family man, a great father, husband and grandfather. I know because Mitt Romney is my dad. I’m Craig Romney and I invite you to get to know my father, Mitt Romney, a leader who loves our nation, recognizes our challenges and has solutions to confront them.” Then the elder Mr. Romney says, also in Spanish, “I’m Mitt Romney and I approved this message.”
ON THE SCREEN The spot begins with a montage of standard still photos of Mr. Romney, the solitary executive, giving speeches and holding news conferences, as well as a magazine spread about his role in the Olympics with the headline “Lord of the Rings.” After 10 seconds, gauzy home video of Mr. Romney surrounded by his extended family in a living room begins, with shots of the candidate washing dishes and receiving an exuberant hug from a grandson. Another shot features Craig Romney, the narrator, labeling him “hijo” (son). After some more stills of Mr. Romney, the spot closes with another home video of him reading a book aloud to a huddle of young grandchildren.

Ay mijo! The ad would probably be much more effective if the family living room somehow featured a kiddie pool full of pudding. And a paddle.
