<description>quintana- have you heard the rumor that he burned down one of his houses on the edge of Mexico City to teach himself a lesson about non-attachment ?

there's also stories that his sex scenes in EL TOPO were real.

<description>Seriously...have you ever heard about the classes he gives? It's like watching his movies is study material for his classes. The best part is the advice that he gives to the students that just makes you want to never EVER get any closer to him than you think he can pee.

<description>yeah, but the boxset omits his colab with the argentos- SANTE SANGRE.

and as far as i know, the sequel to EL TOPO, supposedly called either EL TORO or SON OF EL TOPO, was canceled when jodoworsky got sick of manson.

<description>I love things that come in sets/boxes, so I will definitely check that out.

I read the Marilyn Manson feature is going to be the sequel to El Toro... I really wonder how that'll turn out. I'm also super curious about (fine. totally excited for.) Marilyn Manson's &lt;em&gt;Phantasmagoria&lt;/em&gt;. So. I'm ashamed.

<description>You know, EL TOPO was the first "midnight movie," selling out a low-rent theater in NYC in the early 70s, so seeing it now at the witching hour in the city that never sleeps (ya, enough clichés) is da bizzomb (ee, to end on that faux urbanism).

Anyway, you'd do well to spend the $25 or so to get the new(ish) Alejandro Jodorowsky boxset from Anchor Bay on DVD. It includes EL TOPO, THE HOLY MOUNTAIN (mystics! the tarot! crucified cabrito!), and FANDO Y LIS, a beautiful, no-budget Mexican curiosity about a boy and girl searching for a lost city called Tar. And it caused riots when it was shown in Acapulco. Which is a good thing.

Viva Panic!
