Heath Ledger was born in Perth, Western Australia in 1979. After doing some work for Australian TV, Ledger moved to the U.S, where he soon carved a niche for himself playing teen heartthrobs, such as in The Taming of the Shrew-inspired 10 Things I Hate About You, which was the guilty pleasure of at least one Guanabee editor. He then began to take on more serious roles, such as in Ang Lee’s Brokeback Mountain. He had a high profile relationship with “Brokeback” co-star Michelle Williams, and the two soon had a daughter, Matilda, before splitting up. Ledger’s two most current projects, the Bob Dylan biopic I’m Not There and The Dark Knight, the latest film in the Batman movie franchise. In the latter, Ledger plays the iconic Joker, a role which was already winning the young actor praise. He was in the midst of filming The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus at the time of his death.

How can he earn praise before the movie has been seen?

Critics see movies in advance. Also see: Trailer.

The movie is still in post production, and the trailer is just a small snippet. He was a great actor, but to say that the role “was already winning the young actor praise” is a bit premature.
