Apparently, people don’t like seeing their race or ethnic group caricatured in ads. Those people are so touchy:
A new study from OMD Worldwide found that ethnic groups are turned off by ads that rely on stereotypes and caricatures rather than meaningful cultural cues.
“The respondents were saying, ‘We want to see ourselves represented in ads, but not in a stereotypical matter,’” said Pamela Marsh, group director-primary research and insights at the Omnicom media agency.
Hmm la la. Oh, what? Sorry, we were too busy giving birth and drawing in our eyebrows to pay attention.

Duh. People don’t want to see how lazy, dumb, boring they are reflected in the ads they see on tv that are supposed to represent their people. Good example: You never see any overweight people in a McDonalds commerical in America. Imagine living in Mexico and watching a commercial for McDonalds geared toward Mexico’s white American immigrant population (Doesn’t have the same ring as America’s Mexican immigrant population, I know) and seeing a bunch of fat white people eating Big Macs.
