Happy Valentine's Day, Guanababies

in_love_2.14.08.jpg

Hi babies. I’ll be in Los Angeles this weekend, hopefully contracting melanoma and doing things I will come to regret once the hangover wears off. If you have any suggestions for things I should see, do or take great pains to avoid, do leave them in the comments section and I’ll be sure to ignore them completely.

I’d like to take the time to wish each and every one of you the happiest Excuse To Buy Things That Are Pink / Sparkly / Vibrate-y Day. Remember: If you can’t be with the one you love this Valentine’s Day, love the one you’re with! And if the one you’re with happens to be just you, alone, warping your many, many Hugo Chavez posters with your tears then, well. Better luck next year, you heinous troll-beast.

I love you in a way that does not suggest intimacy or commitment!

oh my. I never knew alex was such a cutie….

avoid the bacon wrapped hot dogs in downtown LA…

Someone’s got a crush.

Eat 12 bacon-wrapped hot dogs, drink with the locals at La Cita and make sure to drink some Wachteiner Dunkel at the Red Lion. Or else.

Oh. They serve pancakes the circumference of a whale’s wiener at the Griddle Cafe. Sunset & Fairfax. Do it.

dontforgettodrinkthemicheladasiheardtheyisyummies!

As I said earlier, bacon wrapped hot dogs are a must.

Ouch! I think that last line was for Rebekah

My suggestion? Have fun. And express opinions you know will be unpopular with the locals. And laugh when their panties get all in a twist. FUN!

Go to Venice beach, stay at the Roosevelt on Hollywood Blvd. Lunch at Cantors on Faifax, Dinner at Famous Jerry’s near the Galleria, try the chicken soup.

Don’t drink the water!! (It’s probably imported from Mexico). Bring your own Manhattan-bottled Evian

Do try the bacon wrapped hot dogs with diced avocados. The best ones are at the Santee Alleys (Olympic Blvd/Santee-Maple)
While there, you can also get crazy contacts, painful but very cute high heels, really good hairstuff and makeup and perfume at lower prices, and all sorts of cochinadas and hoochie wear.
if you are going to be in hollywood there is this very beautiful restaurant - Yamashiro that has unelievable views and I hear great things about Guelaguetza in koreatown.maybe if you have time and a car you can try to go to the Long Beach Aquarium? pet the sharks? have fun!

If you love Magnolia and Buttercup, then you should definitely try Sprinkles Cupcakes in Beverly Hills. To.Die.For.

go to in-n-out lol

Do, stay out of Thee Valley, unless of course you’re in Canoga Park. Then, make sure you stop @ Case de Tacos on Topana & Wyandotte (across from the Jack In the Box.)

Go to Koi and have the Crispy Rice Topped With Spicy Tuna for me. Or if you can’t afford that, just hang out at the valet and wait for Jessica Alba to pull up in her stingray.

Go get some IN N OUT and/or Tommy’s.

Also, if you’re in the mood for tropical drinks, make sure to hit up the Tiki-Ti. Best drinks ever.

Be still my beating heart. Alex, stop being so damn foxy. I can’t take it anymore. And have a safe and wonderful trip to LA. :)

wow. I never th ought I’d actually fall in like with a blog writer ever before. Until I read you.

I’ll be in LA this w/e as well.

But I’ve never been before so I can’t tell you to do anything, nor do I have suggestions.

The only thing I can think of is to go somewhere really public and scream out my name, I may answer.

But pray that i don’t, because then I’ll force you to sit across the room from me so we can IM.

Guana Bust A Nut…did you just call someone an “ignorant Mexican whore…with probably 10 kids and an equal number of STDs” on the Obama post from the 13th? Are you serious? That’s just unbelievable, even from you.

If you run into Britney, punch her in the arm for me.
She knows what its about.
Trust.

I second the Cantors recommend, Sprinkles and try the Newsroom Cafe on robertson so you can shop afterwards

On the ghetto side you should DEFINITLY get a bacon wrapped hot dog from “El Callejon” the alleys that marytza mentioned. Yes they are illegal and you can tell because they are sold out of a grocery shopping cart converted into a grill. Very dangerous but so delish! Also, definitly try King Taco. For a cultural experience check out La Plazita Olvera near Union Station or Plaza De Mariachi’s in East LA.

For your “sooooooooo LA” experience (meaning everyone around you is connected to the entertainment biz) do the Griddle (yummy brunch), Roosevelt Hotel, Urth Cafe, the cafe at Fred Segals, Robertson for shopping, The Ivy if you can get a table and afford ridiculously overpriced food (but you’ll be able to spot a celeb or two). Also you might want to check out the zoo, oops I mean The Grove. Its my fav outdoor mall but its always so dang crowded so go on a weekday. Check out the Farmers market connected to The Grove and eat at La Loteria for yummy mex. Catch a flick at the theatre there (where ive always see many celebs: Angelina Jolie, Justin and Cameron, Paris, etc). Also catch a flick at the Arclight Cinema, its a totally posh movie experience and also a place to spot a celeb or two (if you’re into that sort of thing). If you’re into dive bars check out Boarnders or any jaunts in the Los Feliz area.

Ahh i’m so homesick right now i hate you!

Like I said, avoid the hot dogs.

If you find yourself in East LA, definitely go to la Plaza del mariachi on 1st & Boyle, the Sears on Olympic & Soto, and El Mercadito on 1st & Lorena.

someone help me out, the place where the sell the knock off versaci…los que

Los Tres Hermanos, Latinogamer. There are two of them on Pacific Blvd. in Huntington Park (GO THERE FOR SHOPPING!!!) and there is also another at the corner of Long Beach Blvd & Tweedy Ave. in South Gate (MY CITY!!!!!!)

so im here. and its pretty awesome. i have been drinking tequila since i got off the plane. no joke.

hope your stay has been awesome.

i walked by the bacon wrapped hot dogs yesterday. i couldnt do it.

mainly because i was obliterated. ill chance it again tonight.

went to vanguard for rave night. omg. rave.

in and out was a good time, although the lines were ridiculous.

same for sparkles. so instead we did cupcakes at crumbs.

there was a cream puffery as well off of hollywood blvd.

it was like a choir of angels descended from the heavens and came simultaneously in my mouth.

amazing. its been chillier than i had hoped though.

@diosmio- RIGHT?? And nobody but you called him on it,,, fucking pussies!!
