Scarlett Johansson joins her Vicky Cristina Barcelona co-star, Javier Bardem, to re-enact a scene from Alfred Hitchcock’s Rear Window in the “Hollywood Issue” of Vanity Fair. Nice try, Johansson, but you can’t fool us! You think pairing up with Javier is going to make us forget you have the emoting capabilities of an overripe kumquat? Well, ha! We’re not interested in your acting range in anything that isn’t Back Door. VIII.

I wonder who took topz and who took bottomz?

oh, javier! i was just watching Carne Tremula last night. that’s the first movie i fell in love with him.

why aren’t they looking out of the window?

@mnky

they just had sex, and realised the lense was closed.

@latino: or they’re waiting for Penelope for that three way…

Javier is no James Stewart. And Scarlett is no match for Grace Kelly, a rare classic beauty with brains and elegance. Next to Grace, Penelope looks like a cheap hooker.

Bardem’s a true genius, has anybody seen him in the movie “The Sea Inside?” I’ve seen about 5 or 6 James Stewart movies, he was an OK actor, he just played himself in all of them. He was no Humphrey Bogart.

@Benito: Bardem is a talented man. No question. He was great in The Sea Inside.” James was (and still is, really) an iconic figure in Hollywood that’s hard to emulate. He was, in a sense, typecast, which is why he appears to be playing the same character over and over again. He was an actor during the 1940s and 50s, and, as you know, the studio systems determined an actors fate at that time. Bardem is fortunate to be working now. He has more freedom and gets exciting roles that allow him to show off his talents. However, to the astute observer, Stewart delivered some sophisticated performances. Playing a quadriplegic or psychotic killer is an easy way to impress audiences (and some critics). People today seem less capable of appreciating subtle performances that are ten times more difficult to pull off.

doesn’t get much hotter than Javier in “Jamon Jamon”
