New Taco Bell Ad Rings Our Bells, Helps Us Forget Their Food Is Not Remotely Mexican

We’re not quite sure what to think about this new Taco Bell ad, except that this platter looks like something we’d eat at 3 in the morning and gravely regret at 4 in the morning and the hot mariachi dude makes us giggle when we think of the word “taco.”

And everytime a Latino winks, a whip cracks. Hopefully hitting Tom Tancredo.

i was out with my faggle watching the super bowl when this thing came on and every papi blanco in the place stopped what they were doing and squealed.

personally, i think he looks Indian. dot not feather.

I FUCKING HATE THIS AD.

Mencia’s sucked, too.

I love this ad. The advertising firm that created this brilliant little number should win some sort of industry award. Americans love this sort of thing!

Also, I’ve met many Mexicans that look Egyptian or Indian (or pick any barbaric Brown ethnic group). For example, if you were to send Cindy to Bombay, she’d probably fit right in.

I am a mexican who looks white who knows that Taco Bell’s Agency is called FCB. Foot Cone Belding. They are pretty good. This ad was funny. It is satisfying to work in advertising and work on a brand that will take risks. Mexicans are probably not the target of Taco Bell. I think the target are white people, predominantly male, that eat fast food 5 or more times per week. Taco Bell is an alternative to burgers and its slightly less mainstream than McDonalds and slightly more than Burger King.

@guana… here’s one american who doesn’t love this ad.

@Flaco: You, my friend, get a gold star for using your noggin’. Well done. Also, are you serious when you said that you’re a Mexican who looks white? Well, the deity must have blessed your family. Research has shown that you will earn more money than your less fortunate (read: Brown) brethren. Congratulations!!!!!!! Yay!!!!!

Good point, JAV!ER! I should have said the following: enough Americans love this sort of thing to keep it and commercials like it on the air. As Flaco so wonderfully stated, these ads aren’t meant for Mexican Americans.
