The White Stripes Have The Linguistic Skills Of, Like, A Latino Or Something

white_stripes_2.7.08.jpg

After flirting a little with Mexican and Spanish influenced sounds on their latest album, The White Stripes have decided to go all the way and release a Spanish-language single under the name “Las Rayas Blancas:”

Las Rayas Blancas is Spanish for (you guessed it) The White Stripes.
The Spanish song ‘Conquista’ is a Latino version of their current single ‘Conquest’.
Mexican trumpeter Regulo Aldama has been added for the new version to give it the Spanish feel.

We’re so happy! Now a “raya blanca” will mean something other than us when we’re running out of the shower really quickly, discovering much too late that we had neglected to switch the boiler on.

love that it’s so unexpected and Rayas Blancas has a good ring to it; go White Rayas o Blancas Stripes

Five bucks says their respective moms made them take Spanish as a foreign language.

Cause it shows..

jack’s obsession with orson welles leads to rita hayworth which leads to a fascination with mexican culture which finally leads to this.

i saw it coming.

I dunno,
white folks obsessed with Mexicans writing a song called “conquista”…
