In order to fight the terrible budget crisis currently plaguing the City of Los Angeles, Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa took a furlough day yesterday. This means that he worked for free. All in an attempt to encourage other city employees to take unpaid vacation days. Yes, yes. We, too, are sure this will work.

Villaraigosa, who makes $223,142 a year, will give up $858.26 in gross pay as a way to encourage other city employees to take unpaid vacation days.

Because the average cop or park employee makes over 2 G’s, too. Wait, what? Oh.
