Do you find your salads or fruit cups or hourly pudding breaks to be a little, well. Lacking in sodium nitrate? Well, fret not, because we’ve got a recipe for bacon cups that will make your pancreas positively bubble in delight! In just three, short hours of breathing in carcinogenic smoke, you can have delicious cups fashioned out of processed meat:
I had an occasion calling for bacon themed food and my mind immediately turned towards the famed bacon mat.
Do we ever not have the famed bacon mat on our minds?
I needed something a little more single-serving though, so I decided to attempt bacon cups. In the bacon mat instructions there is mention of draping the mat over an overturned metal bowl and cooking it so that it would turn out in as a bowl shape. I decided to try using the backs of various muffin and mini cake pans, I ran out of bacon before I got to try as many as I would have liked so I’ll have to try more at a later date. Any excuse for more bacon.
Well, is there any meal that doesn’t call for a “bacon theme?”
Going for a breadless BLT I filled the cups with lettuce (the arugula was the best) and sliced cherry tomato. After some serious investigation it was determined that the shallow bowls were the easiest to eat as finger food, while the cups were dramatic.
Personally, we would have filled them with melted butter, chocolate syrup, Fritos and mayonnaise and topped the whole thing off with a bottle of sleeping pills. But to each his own, we suppose.
bacon cups [Not Martha]

Oh yes… a breadless BLT which keeps those nasty carbs away. And while you’re on a pork kick, don’t forget to order a pig heart from your transplant surgeon for dessert.

@ ronch: As are figs + bacon. Although, if I’m being honest, I would probably eat a toddler if it came wrapped in bacon.

Ok, I will be brave and say this: I love bacon. Oh, and I’m not a fattie, so there. That feels better.
