		<description>Seriously....what could Obama really know about race relations here in mainland America besides what he's read in books? The guy grew up in Asia and in Hawaii where he was raised by white people. I'm not saying that he's never experienced discrimination or racism BUT, I don't think he's the proper person to address a huge issue that goes on here in mainland America when he himself was never subject to it throughout his formative years. Not to mention his exclusion of other minorities when making his big "Race" speech....espcially a little group of people called "latinos" who make up the largest minority group in America (yes, larger than blacks). I'm sorry, but he did not learn that whole "preacher man" speech style in Honolulu. The guy is a clone.

		<description>@xixa_xicana: First of all, I'm not blaming Obama for Wright's hateful comments. That's not the issue. Some of us (democrats) are now questioning his judgment, honesty, and electability. Those are the issues. Frankly, I don't trust the man anymore. Let's not pretend like he's the messiah. He's not. He's a professional politician. Please don't forget that.

Now, I've been called an idiot and a retard by Guanabee's lovely readers, but I'm nobody's fool (I feel like Mr. T right now)! According to some sources, Obama joined Wright’s church in the 80s in an effort to improve his political chances in Chicago. He made what seemed to be a smart move back then, joining an influential Black church in the Chicago area. Before the speech, he made misleading comments suggesting that he had no idea that his pastor had made the previously mentioned hateful comments. He then denounced those comments and claimed that they don't reflect his personal values. Again, I'm nobody's fool.

Obama has known Mr. Wright for 20 years. Interestingly, he even quotes and mentions Mr. Wright in his book several times. And, to make matters worse, he even used one of Wright's phrases, &lt;i&gt;The Audacity of Hope&lt;/i&gt;, as the title of one of his books. Oh, but it gets better. His lovely wife Michelle probably agrees with Pastor Wright (just read her undergrad thesis on Blacks and White America).

My point: We really don't know who Obama is. He changes positions when it suits his political needs. When he wanted to gain political power in Chicago, he exploited Wright and his church. Now that he needs the White vote, he denounces Wright's comments and distances himself from those values. This man is a walking contradiction. Will the real Barack Obama please stand up?

		<description>Wright didn't say anything that wasn't true, Hillary has never been called "nigger" and has never been passed up by a taxi driver, but white folks are scared to talk about race. Wright was jus being inappropriate b/c he said it on the pulpit. And those selected sermons are single times in 6 years worth of sermons so we can't generalize him.

@ GBAN: Obama has removed him as a spiritual advisor so what else can he do? He is now guilty by association.
He is trying to address this race issue to move past it so it's not just " a black man running against a white women" presidential race.

		<description>@Rebekah: If you feel wronged by Guanabee, I encourage you to take out all of your anger on Cindy. But please leave Alex alone. Sure, she's a self-identified asshole (who isn't?), but she's wonderful! Love her!

@Alex: :)

@jrod: I learned a valuable lesson a few weeks ago. If I attack Rebekah, all hell will break loose. Cindy will single me out and declare my words misogynistic (which is hypocritical). Guanabee readers will call me an idiot, a retard, or other lovely things. It's me against Guanabee. Sure, I can take the punches, but you know what, it's lonely at the top. If I had a soul, I'd cry.

Anyhoo, re: Obama's speech, I commend him for discussing race in a very direct way, but he's preaching to the choir. Honestly, I'm stunned by how the media is eating up his every word without hesitation. His wife and pastor have both made VERY questionable statements about America. And those statements contradict Obama's message of unity and change. No one cares that he neglected to address the issue earlier, and, before the speech, he even made misleading comments suggesting that he had no idea that Wright had made the incendiary comments in question. That's bull.

One more thing: it's also interesting that the media is praising Obama's message, and echoing his call for us to reevaluate the racial strife that exists between Whites and blacks. He mentioned slavery directly in his speech. Now, the media is talking about this issue to death--it's like everyone's excusing Wright's hateful words and Obama's clear lack of judgment.

		<description>@ rebekah: I'm not exactly sure where you're finding Obama being bashed in this post. That said, I'm confident in saying we're equal opportunity assholes. Except when it comes to David Archuleta.
