Like the crying baby soothed by the dulcet tones of David Archuleta in the above video, a Canadian journalist wrapping up last week’s American Idol in The Vancouver Province is equally entranced:
Looks like American Idol has found its idol. Pint-sized David Archuleta, the adorable 17-year-old (and yes, men can use the word adorable) from Murray, Utah, blew away the competition and the judges this past week with a moving cover of John Lennon’s “Imagine.” Randy couldn’t believe the maturity of this baby-faced talent. Simon said it was “the best performance of the night,” and Paula was a blubbering bag of tears (if I sound like Ryan Seacrest reading from one of his cards, apologies).
Not surprisingly, he lets us in on his love of Oscar Wilde a few lines later. After cleaning up the jiz, he adds:
We’re thinking about a unique proposition wager and intend to call it “the battle of the former dictators.” It will pit Jason CASTRO against Danny NORIEGA, and who will stay around longer. Obviously, Castro would be the favourite.
We’re going to have to go with Danny and that hair winning over all of America, VP. No one’s ever been fond of the white man’s dreads. Below, check out audio of David Archuleta singing “Contigo En La Distancia,” at the AGE OF TWELVE. Is there such a thing as a Tiger Woods of singing people into bed?
David’s the Idol to beat [Vancouver Province]

That song makes me want to cry.
