In case anyone was wondering why, exactly, Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez is oh so very invested in Farc, a Colombian -terrorist- revolutionary group, wonder no more. Documents found on slain Farc leader Raúl Reyes confirm long-standing suspicions that money has been traveling between Chavez and Farc for quite some time:

The records include a letter from Luis Devia, alias Raúl Reyes, found in his computer. The letter stresses Chávez’s gratefulness for some USD 50,000 the FARC gave him when he was in jail in 1992, after his failed coup d’etat, AP reported

According to Naranjo, the documents included a letter dated last February from commander Luciano Marín, alias Iván Márquez, a member of FARC Secretariat, to other colleagues. In the letter, Márquez talks about “Venezuela’s financing to the FARC at USD 300 million.”

Schools, roads, medical care, help for a faltering economy. Just not as important as funding those ol’ revolutionary standbys like kidnap, rape, torture and murder. Or meals and replacement Blackberrys for Naomi Campbell. He’s pretty much funding terrorism on all fronts, really.
