This week’s commenter shout-out is like a Golden Globe for best ensemble cast. Because either none of you were particularly funny, or all of you were. We can’t really decide. Yeah, I saw that, but when you are just that sad, then why make an issue out of it. As my mom would say “Se le boto la canica” and leave it at that. We all live to fight (and maybe even love ?) another day.

Ok, so the writer of this post thinks that my comments were not funny. Fair enough. You also think that I should play nice. That’s a reasonable request. But I find it a little strange that the writer of this post (Cindy?) would single me out and declare my comments as being misogynistic. Come on, did you even read Latinogamer’s comment? You didn’t find his comment problematic? It’s ok to denigrate and objectify women like that? Oh, and I loved your comment about Latinas voting for Hillary “because she has a uterus.” I also loved when you called Lohan a skank. You know, I’m starting to think we’re all misogynistic bastards here.
Also, if you actually paid more attention to my previous comments (mostly about Hillary Clinton), you’d see that I’m one of the few readers that have explicitly argued in favor of Hillary because of her concern for women’s issues. Yes, I said some nasty things to Rebekah, but they were directed at her as an individual (they weren’t comments about women in general), while you and others on this blog have made negative comments about women.
End of rant! Also, I apologize to Janie for calling her a chola and saying other nasty things. My beef was with Rebekah and not with you.
@Rebekah: Bravo! You sure know how to play the victim. I can hear the violins playing. Ah, but how soon we forget that you’re not a very nice person. Hm, remember how you were rude and mean to Latin_Princess? She never said a word to you, but you felt the need to belittle her. You have some nerve confronting me. You and I are birds of a feather, Rebekah.
Also, we did exchange some harsh words a few weeks back. But after that little exchange, you repeatedly attacked me. The thing is, Rebekah, instead of arguing against my points, you made PERSONAL attacks against me (how many times did you call me pathetic?), even when my comments were not directed at you. You tried to provoke me, and it worked.
I won’t deny that my comments were offensive, but what were you expecting after you tried to provoke me? Do you mean to tell me that you can be mean and aggressive, while everyone else should just be quiet and play nice? That’s total bs, and you know it. Please practice what you preach, Rebekah, and you should apologize to Latin_Princess and everyone you’ve insulted on this and other blogs.
I know I’ve left a lot of obnoxious comments on this blog (which is the whole point of this blog, really — this isn’t Mr. Roger’s neighborhood for crying out loud), but MANY people have put me in my rightful place. They’ve done it intelligently and they rarely get personal. And I know I DESERVE it. You are a sad, sad person and a hypocrite, Rebekah. I won’t call you a woman because that would be an insult to the other women here at Guanabee.
I like how this “blog” quickly turned into an online community. Do you people actually know each other? Since when is a gossip blog more about the commenters than the actual news being gossiped about?
And I’m going to be honest. The whole Gawker-style “Commenter Shout Out” is kind of stupid. Sure, it may draw people in to comment (in the odd and almost pathetic hopes that they’ll get the see their internet ID name in bright lights) but once commenters are self-consciously trying to write wittier and increasingly more over-the-top rants to try to make grab this transient honor…well, it’s just odd and almost pathetic.
And I’m saying this as a friend of one of the writers and not as a commenter trying to grab next week’s “Commenter Shout Out”. I love you, Alex, but the content is no longer as riveting as the commenter drama.
